Description: Material made of plant-based biomass, sourced primarily from the cores of corn cobs. This organic waste, which cannot be used for human consumption, are widely available and usually destined for fermentation, burning as biomass or remaining on the field. The corn cobs are collected and dried. When the cobs are dry, a shredding process produces the biomass that becomes the material. The material is then mixed with pigments and other plant components (sidestreams from bioethanol production) to create a 99.5 % plant-based recipe. Only the pigments, added to the mixture to produce the colours, are not yet of organic origin, but are biodegradable. Through a high-pressure pressing process and the addition of heat, the polymers in the biomass activate and form strong bonds, which results in a strong and stable end product. Finally, the material is cut and finished with a bio-based waterproof coating. It is used in vertical cladding, as an alternative to ceramic or HPL materials, with a demountable anchoring system to allow for complete repair and replacement.
