Officially presented at the Fornitore Offresi Arredo & Design event by our CEO Marco Capellini, EUCLID is the new tool added to the family of tools developed by Matrec for measuring the circularity of materials, products and projects.
Starting from the experience gained over the years with CirculartTool (developed in 2016), EUCLID was developed to address, in particular, the needs of SMEs as a pathway to the implementation of circular design strategies and to meet the eco-design requirements of the EU Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR).
EUCLID is characterised by a quality measurement path that takes into account five phases of the product life cycle. For each phase, the company is supported in entering the required information on materials, processes and certifications.
EUCLID is also a tool that helps companies to:
- gain knowledge about the environmental characteristics of materials and products,
- begin a step-by-step journey towards designing circular products,
- apply resource-efficient strategies with a focus on materials and processes.
At Fornitore Offresi Arredo & Design, several companies in the wood and furniture industry used EUCLID to measure the circularity of their materials, semi-finished and finished products. Following the assessment phase, they applied circular redesign solutions by evaluating different redesign possibilities. The final feedback was very positive both in terms of the practicality of using EUCLID and the understanding of the circularity solutions applied. Some of these companies subsequently decided to continue measuring their products using CircularTool in order to obtain a quantitative result.
EUCLID is a free tool for enterprises: euclid.matrec.com
EUCLID is a project developed thanks to the contribution of Friend CCI, European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) founded by the European Commission.
