Milan Design Week 2024 starts until 21 April, with design proposals and solutions that increasingly look to themes of sustainability and circularity. This is an important moment for the furniture sector in view of imminent approval by the EU of ESPR regulation (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation – link). As every year, this will be an opportunity for Matrec to take a point of view on new proposals and solutions for ‘circular’ products and materials also looking at greenwashing aspects. We have an intense programme of meetings with companies of furniture sector that have decided to start a circular design process in order to arrive prepared, and without surprises, to the application of the ESPR.
We will also participate in public meetings to present our experience and projects on circular design, but mainly to explain how measure the circularity of furniture products through our CircularTool.
This is an important moment to assess the commitment of furniture companies to circular design. Looking at the first press previews, we are confident of finding new proposals and interesting solutions that can be a guide for continuous improvement.
