The project focused on measuring the material circularity of a pair of sneakers. Following the assessment phase, a series of critical issues were identified, mainly due to end-of-life management, which were subsequently resolved by researching alternative circular material solutions. The aim of the project was to develop shoes using 100% recycled materials by favouring the separability of certain components. The overall material circularity performance index achieved an increase of 38.6% compared to the original product and 22.4% compared to the sneakers models of the same collection. The most significant increase of 17.3% was in the choice of new circular materials.
