A window display project which, due to its short duration as it is linked to seasonality, focused mainly on two aspects: the choice of sustainable and circular materials and the easy disassembly of the components for subsequent reuse of the materials. For the concept and design phase, the designers immediately turned to Matrec’s CircularTool, which made it possible to select the most appropriate and innovative materials as well as to measure the circularity of the project by comparing different material solutions and functional assembly and disassembly systems. The final circularity performance score is 46% better than the average of the company’s previous display windows. The return of material resources to the system exceeded 90% of the overall total. 58% of the materials used have environmental certification, 32% of which are from renewable sources.
The display window is mainly composed of a floor, two side walls, a main structure, finishes, lighting and a series of mannequins.
With these results, the company has set itself new circularity improvement objectives for the design of all future display windows, including a commitment to adopt an internal technical specification on the circular economy.
