To concretize its sustainability efforts, this is the intent behind the agreement struck between Toyoda Gosei and leading sporting goods company Asics Corporation.
The collaboration involves the launch of a collection of Skyhand OG sports shoes, made from leather scraps salvaged from the production of car steering wheels. The remnants are combined into a patchwork and used in the uppers of the shoes.
Leather scraps, sourced from the Toyoda Gosei plant in Vietnam, are used locally in Asics production facilities in Vietnam, reducing both material waste and CO2 emissions associated with transportation.
