Salvatore Ferragamo has created a re-edition of its iconic F-80 watch, choosing renewable and recycled materials for the strap and packaging.
The inside of the wrist strap is lined with a layer of cork certified for responsible forestry and harvested without damaging the plant, while the outside of the strap is made of post-consumer recycled PET fibre fabric, consistent with the goal of reducing the extraction of new resources. The hole covers are made of vegetable-tanned leather, treated with a technique that uses natural ingredients such as plants and tree bark. The case is made of stainless steel.
Even the packaging is oriented towards sustainability through the use of renewable material solutions. For the box, certified sustainable forest management cardboard is used, covered with a recycled PET fibre fabric. While the wood and metal case is internally lined with hemp, a biodegradable fibre that requires minimal amounts of water. The watch’s display pad is made of bio-plastic obtained entirely from sugar cane.
