New circular materials for sofa design

Tejo is the name of the new modular sofa designed for Isomi.
Each base module replaces plywood with a structure made of recycled cork from the production waste of wine corks.
It is a closed-loop process, the recycled cork blocks are cut to size and moulded while the excess material or dust generated by the process is fed back into the production process and processed into new cork blocks.
Foam seat padding is replaced by natural latex andwool, while the fabrics are sourced from flax andhemp.
This flexible and modular system represents a new approach to sustainable furniture design, through the use of natural and recycled materials, towards low-carbon and zero-waste production.
