In reply to the innovation challenge about using Nike Grind, Nike received more than 600 applications from 58 countries.
The material is a palette of premium recycled materials recovered from used footwear and manufacturing scrap, that has been already used into more than 1 billion square feet of running tracks, gym floors and other surfaces around the world. Five groups won the Design with Grind Challenge, and one group was awarded for its Material Recovery fix. The winners designed different product such as: Yoga mats, blocks and meditation cushions, mattress for people suffering from neurodevelopmental disorders, traffic-calming devices, climbing holds for rock climbing walls.
