Stella McCartney has just presented its first bag made from Bananatex canvas, a Cradle to Cradle® Gold-certified fabric obtained entirely from the banana plants.
It is a durable, waterproof and plastic-free fabric, cultivated in the Philippines within a natural ecosystem of sustainable forestry, without chemical treatments.
The stalks of Abacá plant can be harvested once annually and can be turned into yarn, in order to make a high-quality, cotton-like cloth.
The material is used in the Logo series on the timeless tote bag, embroidered with the toile de Jouy Fungi Forest print.
The details are stainless steel and recycled brass.
