Burberry presented to the market the new Spring/Summer 2020 collection featuring a capsule of sustainable garments called “ReBurberry“, consisting of jackets, light coats and accessories such as bags and sunglasses.
The circular material that characterizes the collection is made with a particular yarn made of recycled nylon from regenerated fishing nets, textile waste and recycled plastic from industrial waste. Even the packaging has undergone a conversion that combines the sustainable philosophy pursued by the company, consisting of certified paper combined for at least 40% of its composition with recycled coffee grounds.
The company, which has been committed to sustainability for a long time, has focused its attention on the materials that compose its collections, using leathers from certified tanneries, allocating processing waste to companies that convert them into other products. 68% of the cotton, which is currently used in the production of garments, comes from non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the environmental and social conditions in which cotton is grown. In addition, 68% of the electricity consumed in offices, boutiques, warehouses and production plants comes from renewable sources. The well-known brand has set itself further goals to achieve by 2022 to constantly improve its positive contribution to the planet.
