  • The eyewear is a product that has always been influenced and influencing fashions and lifestyles. Particular attention is given to forms and materials used, because this accessory has influence on aesthetic appearance of the face.
    In recent years the choice of materials to use for glasses production, in addition to the characteristics of lightness, strength and flexibility, has emerged the concept of sustainability.
    The application of strategies for environmental sustainability has led to the development new sustainable glasses made from recycled materials, natural materials and bio-based materials.
    Natural materials like wood and bamboo were the first to be used, and now we are looking at the development of new innovative applications with paper, cereal or natural fibers such as flax and hemp.
    The Report Sustainable Products: FASHION 2014, made by MATREC within its activity on Sustainable Trends, presents the trends that are characterizing the fashion international market, through the selection 30 products that have been able to combine sustainability of materials, style and innovation.
    The Report presents 30 products with images and describing the characteristics of materials through a comparative analysis of the environmental performance of each individual product.
